X-rays and Specific Chiropractic Adjustments: Do You Need Them?

X-rays: How are they used?

At Blanton Chiropractic, we believe in taking specific digital X-rays for the analysis and documentation of the injuries to the spine. Also, we believe if you can’t see the problem that it is much more difficult, if not impossible, to fix it.

If you have an injury to the spine, you go to the emergency room or even to your family doctor. Often they will point out that you have osteoarthritis and maybe even some disc injuries. While we are looking for arthritis and disc damage as well, we are also looking for misalignment of the spine.X-rays allow us to make specific adjustments for each individual patient.

One of the main techniques we use is called upper cervical specific chiropractic. By far, the best and most specific way to work on the upper cervical spine is by using specific digital X-rays. After taking the X-rays, Dr. Blanton measures and analyzes – to the degree and to the millimeter – the angles that the first and second cervical vertebra have tilted or twisted. This allows him to mathematically analyze exactly the best angle and which vertebra to begin to adjust. So even though many adjustments look the same, everyone is receiving a different adjustment based upon their X-rays.

Therefore, when people ask if they need X-rays, the answer is most often yes because we want to get the best results. We want to be as specific as possible with our adjustments because we have seen what kind of progress can be made to help you heal.
